// go ahead, 2006
Model, 35 x 35 x 35 cm
Fiberboard,
acrylic paint, paper, pvc, glue, permanent marker
This model represents a section of a hallway in a shabby
residential building. Along the hallway, an open door
allows a view of the inside of an appartment, un-inhabited
for years. Paint and wallpaper are peeling off the walls,
exposing layers of bygone time.
Paradoxically, both standstill and acceleration are
apparent – even the graffiti “go ahead”
is eroding and one wonders whether its admonition is
progessive, ironic, resentful, or resigned, and whether it
refers to individual choices, to changes in society, or to
time in general. //
